My wife and I ended up in Europe for business reasons and decided to make a trip out of it. It was my first time to Rome, and something I’ve been longing after for quite awhile. Want to get away? Go to Rome! Or better yet, get married at St. Peter’s and take me along!
It really is was one of the most amazing places in the world — where else can you sit in a 2000 year-old forum eating gelato? Enjoy the photographs~
One of our first stops on the way to Oxford was the perplexing Stonehenge. If you fill out an application way in advance you can arrive before the gates are opened to the public and get an up close and personal look within the circle.
After that we stopped at Oxford to grab a pint at the ‘Eagle & Child‘, aka ‘The Bird and the Baby’. Fan’s of J.R.R. Tolkien and C.S. Lewis would know that this is the pub where the two would meet for the Inklings writers group. It’s also the location where C.S. Lewis discussed his proofs for The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe. Cool, huh?
Onto Rome! First, the prominent facade of the Basilica of St. John Lateran— I loved the outstretched arm…
